A rich source of fossils that come from the late Pliocene epoch, which happened around 3.5 million years ago, Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument has been invaluable in piecing together the natural history of our planet. At the visitor center, a variety of exhibits, hands-on activities for kids and fossils help bring this past era to life. There are also special ranger-led programs at various points throughout the year that further illuminate this long-past landscape. Located a few miles south of I-84 near the town of Hagerman, the park is also close to Malad Gorge State Park.
